Glass Applications

LMI has been a measurement solutions provider to the glass industry for nearly 20 years. Customers such as AGC Automotive, Pilkington and PPG have standardized on the use of LMI measurement tools for their glass measurements.

These tools include the LMI 241-Blade gage which measures both size and form of the glass simultaneously. The LMI 241-B gauge attaches to the LMI 776 block mounted at each checkpoint location to measure the size and form of glass.

The patented mounting block system insures that the glass is measured at the same location each time. Gage R&R of this system are usually less than 5%.Constructed out of aircraft aluminum and hardened steel, the LMI 241-B gauge is designed specifically for shop floor use.

This measurement system can use either a LMI 440 Data Collector or a LMI 585 Plus Digital Transmitter to collect and/or view dynamic gauge readings. There is a RF option available for use with the LMI 595 and LMI 5000 Data Collect Software which can be used to view readings around a graphic. Customers using these products have a lot of options to customize their measurement solutions.

There is an ever increasing need to reduce the labor required to measure glass and eliminate measurement error. The LMI 5000 AutoGage system is designed to measure up to 128 points simultaneously and can be used in an automated measurement station with a PLC or manually loaded checking fixture. The measurement probes, LMI 5200 probe and LMI 5300 probe can be air or spring actuated and have 10mm of precision travel. Custom features such as rate of change equations and special data exports are LMI 's specialty.

Centering of glass has long been a concern before actual measuring size and form. The LMI 560 Null indicator is designed to measure the glass on each end and provide a large display for the operator to use for centering.
